The Senior Program Manager / Action Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Director of Security, Deputy Director, and subordinate Security Managers in executing the Space Systems Command (SSC) security mission across the enterprise, including geographically separated units (GSUs). This position requires a strategic thinker and skilled communicator capable of managing complex tasks and driving organizational change in a dynamic environment.

Salary Range

Full salary range for this position is $215,000 to $230,000 per year, with the starting salary determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

  • Security Program Support:
    Assist leadership in executing SSC’s security mission by responding to internal and higher headquarters taskings.

  • Documentation & Planning:
    Develop and submit acquisition-related documents such as Program Protection Plans, Organizational Change Management strategies, Strategic Plans, and Facility/Resource Management documentation.

  • Strategic Messaging & Advocacy:
    Support strategic communications and advocate for organizational change initiatives aligned with SSC’s mission and goals.

  • Baseline Analysis & Metrics:
    Gather and analyze command-wide security baseline data to support decision-making. Develop and maintain performance metrics to measure progress against the baseline as new initiatives are implemented.

  • Reporting & Evaluation:
    Provide ongoing reporting and analysis to leadership. Ensure tasks are reviewed and aligned with the evolving scope of SSC’s security responsibilities.

  • Special Projects:
    Execute special tasks as assigned by the Director of Security, including cross-functional initiatives and enterprise-wide coordination.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in program management, preferably within a DoD or national security environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across organizational boundaries.
  • Familiarity with acquisition documentation and strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving task requirements and organizational priorities.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting senior leadership in a military or government setting.
  • Knowledge of SSC’s mission, structure, and operational environment.
  • Background in security operations, organizational change management, or strategic communications.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Example lifting in excess of 25 lbs, standing for long periods of time, traveling across base regularly, transporting equipment, etc.
