Credence has an upcoming need for a Senior Software Engineer who will be primarily responsible for supporting the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance / Special Operation Forces (ISR/SOF) Directorate at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH.

 

The Air Force Program Executive Officer (PEO) for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) (AFPEO/WI) has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility for equipping our war-fighters to win the fight.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

  • Apply the principles, criteria, and procedures of Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5000.1 and DoDD 5000.2R as well as the policies and processes of Headquarters (HQ) AFMC and AFLCMC Engineering Directorate to all SOF acquisition engineering tasks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
  • Provide advisory assistance in developing system concepts, and in performing technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs.
  • Assist with providing technical support in planning, analyzing, and evaluating efforts used to define total weapons systems/subsystem requirements, translate requirements into design criteria, evaluate alternative design approaches, develop system specifications, and perform technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs to include airworthiness (and tailored airworthiness criteria).
  • Provide support in developing system performance requirements, objectives and integration, and the estimation of time and resources for system design, development, and support.
  • Apply expertise in the field of engineering and extensive knowledge of the assigned functional area to assist in resolving unique or novel problems related to design and development engineering including having knowledge of: the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines used in support of sustainment, modification, and maintenance programs.
  • Assist with planning, analyzing, and evaluating engineering and technical efforts used to define total weapons system/subsystem requirements, translating requirements into design criteria, evaluating alternative design approaches, and developing the system specifications.
  • Perform analysis and assist with evaluating proposals, presenting conclusions/recommendations, and integrating technical requirements, directives, and program plans in support of assigned projects/programs in systems engineering, including the preparation and review of detailed specifications, drawings, and supporting documents.
  • Assist with coordinating special studies on design changes, recommending solutions to technical problems, and recommending different engineering approaches through the development phase and into production.
  • Assist with managing performance/cost relationships and analyzing systems/equipment to ensure functional/operational integrity and reliability.
  • Assist in performing complex and comprehensive analyses and use systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approaches to determine performance objectives and integration issues.
  • Assist in conducting limited modeling, simulation, and analysis of the effects of individual modifications on the survivability/vulnerability of the SOF platforms.
  • Assist the Government by providing guidance on the technical direction and policy for development and integration of propulsion systems: performance and operability, structures and subsystems and controls.
  • Support the Government software development activities required for defining, developing, testing, and fielding Operational Flight Program (OFP) upgrades to include requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and documenting specified changes for the OFP software during Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD), Full Rate Production, and Post Deployment phases.
  • Ensure the management of total software development efforts of the program’s OEM, including subcontractors. This includes the program’s OEM development, implementation, and maintenance of software as documented in their Software Development Plan. This will include, but not limited to, platforms, support equipment, training systems, and mission planning systems.
  • Support software safety analysis will assess new and modified functionality of all systems and all functionality of the systems whose functional criticality identified as flight critical, flight essential, or safety critical.
  • Ensure that IMPs include major software development and quality assurance activities and events.
  • Review system/subsystem design information proposed for development to include, but not limited to, Software Requirements Specifications, Software Design Descriptions, Software Test Plans, Software Test Descriptions, Software Test Reports, Software Product Specifications, Interface Requirements Specification, and Software Version Descriptions.
  • Participate in team meetings, Systems Engineering Technical Reviews, Computer Resources Working Groups and Software Working Groups.
  • Provide technical guidance on software development practices, performance trades, risks, systems integrations issues, software assurance and cybersecurity.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

  • Clearance: Top Secret
  • Master’s degree and ten (10) years of experience, five (5) of which must be in DoD or,
  • Bachelor’s degree and  twelve (12) years of experience, five (5) of which must be in DoD or,
  • Fifteen years (15) of relevant work experience, eight (8) of which must be in DoD
  • Minimum, two (2) years of experience in the DOD acquisition/development of OFP software. Agile software development and/or DevSecOps experience is highly desirable
