Position Summary

The Outbreak Response Senior Advisor will primarily support the USAID’s Bureau for Global Health, Office of Infectious Disease (ID), Emerging Threats Division (ETD) division as a Credence Institutional Support Contractor (ISC).

 

Note: This is a 1-year term-limited Position.

Salary Range

Full salary range for this position is $133,380 to $200,720 per year, with the starting salary determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

This position will support USAID’s Outbreak Response Team response to the Clade 1 Mpox Outbreak.  The Global Health Bureau is the lead for USAID’s global response to Clade 1 Mpox. In the past month the response has seen an increase in cases and spread across Central Africa and countries outside of Africa, this trajectory has had an exponential increase on the workload for the response team. This position would provide urgently needed technical support to the response capacity of USAID.

 

The Secretariat of the mpox Response Team includes a Senior Operations Official (filled by CDC), a Deputy Operations Official (filled by USAID), and a Deputy Diplomatic Official (filled by State). This position will support the Deputy Operations Official.

 

Duties will include:

  • Oversight/ support and tracking status of deliverables to National Security Council /Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response inquiries and Interagency Policy Committee due outs
  • Coordinating a weekly interagency mpox Response Team ‘All Hands call’
  • Developing weekly briefings materials on the progress of the response
  • Coordinating multiple inter-agency working groups contributing to the response
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master's degree and 10 years relevant experience, Bachelor’s degree and 12 years relevant experience OR Associate’s degree and 14 years relevant experience in public health, social work or related social sciences field
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance required.
  • Expertise in the fields of public health, animal health, infectious diseases, or related fields.
  • Experience engaging with global health or international development technical disciplines (such as, infectious diseases, animal health, etc.).
  • Experience working with health programs in developing countries.
  • Communication skills to convey complex information to multi-cultural, non-technical and technical audiences with diverse views.
  • Skill in applying innovative and independent thinking, planning and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead activities and tasks to successful completion, coordinating with a variety of stakeholders, including organizational leadership and external and internal partners
  • Demonstrated flexibility and openness in responding to changing work priorities and environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and across teams.
