We are actively seeking an experienced Budget Analyst who will be primarily responsible for supporting the Air Force Institute of Technology School of Systems & Logistics (AFIT/LS) directorate at WPAFB, OH. 

 

AFIT/LS is the Air Force's Sole provider of Professional Continuing Education (PCE) Courses in the Areas of Acquisition, Logistics, and Software Engineering. With more than 100 Courses and Seminars, the School Plans, Develops, and Conducts Courses and Programs to Satisfy the Technical Management Educational needs of Logistics, Systems, and Acquisition Customers from the Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD), and other Federal Agencies. More than 20,000 Students Receive Education from AFIT/LS Each Year.

 

The School Currently Offers Joint Service Courses Ranging in Length from Two days to Five Weeks in the Disciplines of Acquisition Management, Engineering Management, Sustainment, and Data Science. It is also the Leader in Web-based Education for the Acquisition and Logistics Workforce, Providing the Tools, Skills, and Abilities to Manage the Entire Spectrum of a Systems Life Cycle.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

  • The School of Systems and Logistics (AFIT/LS) relies on contracted support to accomplish vital functions in support of the school’s education mission. The objective of this position is to support the school in variety of key areas of financial management. Financial support personnel shall complement the LS government team to provide the necessary service to internal and external customers/stakeholders and to assure proper financial recordkeeping to meet auditory requirements to include:
  • Provide budget and financial management support to the assigned resource advisor(s) and management to manage, monitor and execute assigned financial plans and programs.
  • Work with resource advisor to ensure proper expenditures and documentation are in accordance with approved Air Force policies, to include unfunded requirements, spend plans, and budget justifications; work with the resource advisor to ensure spend plans are up to date and accurate.
  • Work with AFIT/FM to ensure proper loading and expenditure of funds; and help provide weekly financial update and trends to resource advisors, as requested.
  • Manage, monitor, and execute travel, travel itineraries, and lodging for senior officer and executive students assigned to AFIT/LS courses.
  • Provide management of the assigned travel budgets, reporting travel statistics to the resource advisor.
  • Assists with the implementation and/or assistance with initiating travel orders and vouchers in the Defense Travel System (DTS).

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

 

  • Able to Pass, at a minimum, National Agency Check and Inquires (NACI) Investigation, Required on all New Federal Employees
  • Possess the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in the military financial technical/professional field
  • Possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman personnel within the AFIT financial discipline
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of AF/DoD discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in the area of expertise. (Financial Management)
  • BS/BA degree in business, finance, accounting, or related discipline or ten years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, three of which must be in the DoD 
  • Experience with DEAMS financial system; DTS; DoD POM planning and purchasing processes
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Joint Travel Regulation (JTR)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • May be required to lift 50 lbs.
  • May be required to travel within the organizational geographic area of responsibility
  • Some travel may be required
