USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA) is the lead federal coordinator for international disaster assistance. USAID/BHA provides and coordinates U.S. Government (USG) international humanitarian assistance to save lives, alleviate human suffering, and reduce the physical, social, and economic impact of rapid and slow-onset disasters by supporting at-risk populations to build stable foundations to withstand humanitarian shocks and stresses. Team Credence, through the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance Support Contract (BHASC), provides operational and administrative support to provide and coordinate humanitarian assistance and maintain 24/7 response capability.

As a key member of USAID/BHA’s Strategic Communications and Humanitarian Information Division, the Graphic Designer works very closely with USAID/BHA’s Content and Digital Communications Team under the direction of the Lead Graphic Designer to produce infographics and print and digital media products that visually represent USAID’s role in international humanitarian assistance and in specific disaster responses for both internal U.S. government and external public audiences.

Salary Range

Full pay range for this position is $60,000.00  and $70,000.00 per year, with the starting wage determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

  • In coordination with the Strategic Communications and Humanitarian Information Division, conceptualize and develop infographics and other visual representations that effectively communicate USAID’s humanitarian work to public and internal audiences, while ensuring compliance with Agency branding guidelines, as needed.
  • Conceptualize and develop design solutions and templates for a wide variety of projects, including internal and external information products, multimedia and print materials, reports, event materials, presentations, newsletters, exhibit/signage materials, digital/social media products, and humanitarian-focused content on the USAID website.
  • Act as design consultant to staff by collaboratively developing clear visual representations and layouts that communicate humanitarian programs or concepts, as well as current USAID priorities and strategies.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or a related discipline with 1-3 years of experience in a graphic design role.
  • Demonstrate professional graphic design experience with a strong portfolio, incorporating infographics and data visualizations; experience in animations extremely desirable. Experience with developing the layout for multi page documents and familiarity with 508 compliance is also desirable.
  • Minimum: BS 0+ Years or HS 4+
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and disaster relief issues, USG agencies, and strategic messaging is a plus but not required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a S. Government issued Secret security clearance for the duration of employment on this contract.

 

Other Qualifications and Requirements

  • Demonstrated fluency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop as well as the Microsoft Office suite; fluency in Adobe After Effects is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work and design on Apple iMac, and familiarity working on Windows/PCs.
  • Motivated to keep up with new design and branding trends and offer new ideas for improvements to our products and processes independently.

  • Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
    • Hybrid work environment (in-person with the ability to telework);
    • Lifting in excess of 25 lbs, standing for long periods of time, traveling across base regularly, transporting equipment, etc.
