The Acquisition Specialist will provide expert-level support to the Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC), specifically within the AC Directorate FME portfolio. This role focuses on comprehensive financial management across the SSC space acquisition portfolio, including Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes. The specialist will work closely with government personnel to ensure accurate, timely, and strategic financial planning and execution.

Salary Range

Full salary range for this position is $150,000 to $165,000 per year, with the starting salary determined based on candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below

Financial Management Support:

  • Assist with Program Objective Memorandum (POM), Program Budget Review (PBR), Planning Choices, and year-of-execution financial activities.
  • Support financial reviews including Fall/Spring Program Reviews, Investment Budget Review, BER, MER, and PMRs.
  • Monitor, forecast, and report on investment and O&M appropriations, including expiring, canceling, reimbursable, and working capital funds.

Training & Communication:

  • Provide expert acquisition knowledge to train new SSC/FM personnel.
  • Maintain and organize SharePoint sites for operational understanding and training.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and technically accurate oral and written communications.

Budget Exhibit Preparation:

  • Guide program offices in budget document creation and conduct training sessions.
  • Analyze budget exhibits for strategic alignment and accuracy.
  • Document and present findings in weekly SSC/FMA staff meetings.

Data Reconciliation & Analysis:

  • Reconcile financial data across systems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Utilize tools such as MS Office, CCaR, GAFS, DEAMS, MOCAS, PMRT, IDECS II, ADVANA, and FM-Suite.

Education, Requirements and Qualifications

  • An active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Masters Degree in related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years demonstrated related acquisition experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in DoD acquisition and financial management.
  • Proficiency in PPBE processes and tools.
  • Prior experience with the development of source selection documents (Source Selection Plans (SSP), Initial Evaluation Briefing, Comparative Analysis Report, Source Selection Decision Document, Evaluation Notices, Final Proposal Revision, etc.) IAW FAR, DoD, AF Instructions, and SSC policies.
  • Knowledge of the laws, principles, policies, and practices of systems acquisition and program management is required.
  • Must be experienced in the federal acquisition process, have a strong comprehension of Federal Acquisition Regulations and Defense supplements.
  • A background in systems procurement and/or the ability and enthusiasm to grasp the underlying requirements.
  • Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work closely with teammates and customers across internal and external organizations.
  • Knowledge of Higher Headquarters, Air Force and Space Force, processes, and procedures as it relates to their functional responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
  • Skilled in writing both acquisition and technical related documentation, possess excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and with various stakeholders.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Example lifting in excess of 25 lbs, standing for long periods of time, traveling across base regularly, transporting equipment, etc.
